In a poll of Germany's sports journalists, two athletics have been named the countries Athletes of the Year. In the team category, a  Bavarian football team took the honors.  

Bayern Munich have booked their place in the quarterfinals of the German Cup, beating Augsburg with a 2-0 score, though Arjen Robben went off injured. Bayer Leverkusen, Eintracht Frankfurt and Wolfsburg also reached the next stage of the German Cup.
